1. SYSTEM DEFINITION

Developed in collaboration with LOWEN Habitat™, the Biological Exposure Index™ (BEI) is a proprietary environmental intelligence system that consolidates real-time data from air quality, signal fields, circadian lighting, microclimate, and acoustic conditions into a single, continuously updated 0–100 Environmental Load Score.

2. WHY IT MATTERS

Modern environments are shaped by a complex and constantly shifting mix of invisible inputs. CO₂ drift, particulate load, signal density, circadian misalignment, and acoustic instability can accumulate quietly over time, reducing environmental coherence without obvious warning. Without a unifying metric, optimization remains fragmented. BEI translates this complexity into clear, actionable intelligence — turning the home from a passive backdrop into a measurable, optimizable performance asset through a single, interpretable score.

3. EXPOSURE PATHWAY

Environmental inputs reach the body through multiple simultaneous channels: inhaled particulates and VOCs, fluctuating CO₂ levels, radiofrequency and electromagnetic fields, light spectrum and timing, thermal and humidity variability, and acoustic intrusion. BEI continuously interprets these variables across intensity, duration, and interaction, producing a composite Environmental Load Score that reflects total environmental conditions within the living environment.

4. LOWEN APPROACH

At the center of the system is a dedicated, high-resolution portrait display panel engineered as the command surface of the LOWEN environment, available in two refined sizes to suit different spaces. It integrates distributed sensing inputs across the home — including PM2.5/PM10, CO₂, eTVOC, RF/EMF, lux + wavelength timing, temperature, humidity, and acoustic profiling.

The proprietary BEI engine processes this multi-domain data in real time, delivering an intuitive color-coded score, environmental heat mapping, system status visibility, and longitudinal trend intelligence — allowing the condition of the environment to be understood at a glance.

5. PRODUCT ROLE

The Biological Exposure Index™ serves as the fully integrated brain and centralized intelligence core of the LOWEN system — transforming disconnected environmental data into a structured, decision-ready framework anchored by a single Environmental Load Score.

6. USE CASE

Installed as the central environmental command interface in primary living or sleeping areas, BEI operates continuously to:

7. INTEGRATION

BEI is the unifying intelligence layer across the entire LOWEN ecosystem. Air Systems feed particulate and VOC data, Signal Systems report RF and electromagnetic conditions, circadian lighting supplies spectral timing, and microclimate tools contribute thermal and humidity insights. The BEI engine synthesizes all inputs into a single score, enabling a true closed-loop architecture: measure → score → intervene → reassess → predict drift → maintain continuity.
